TrikeFest Recap

North country cycling through TriCycle NH, a group made up of the north country’s three amazing trail networks in Bethlehem – Bethlehem Trails Assoc, Littleton – Parker Mountain, and Franconia – Franconia Area NEMBA, combined with Tri-Town Bicycle and Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Country, got together at an event sponsored and hosted by Rek-Lis Brewing to celebrate the culmination of their summer long mountain bike challenge called TrikeFest.

TrikeFest gave riders a chance to find the tricycle (yup, the trail networks have 3 old school tricycles) on each trail system over the course of the summer. Tricycles were moved each month, giving riders a chance to find the tricycle 9 times. Hundreds of riders came out throughout the summer to participate, and several hundred were on hand at the TrikeFest celebration on September 24 at Rek-Lis in Bethlehem. The day started with over 100 people hitting the trails in Bethlehem in organized rides for beginners, intermediate riders, and those more experienced riders ready to take on the challenge of riding the new climbing trail, Truckin’, to the top of Mount Agassiz, a 700 foot climb over about one mile of great, new trails.

With the trail parking lot around the corner from the area’s best ice cream, many finished their ride at Super Secret Ice Cream before heading to Rek-Lis where they had food trucks, live music, and beer from some of the region’s best breweries including Rek-Lis, Iron Furnace, Moat Mountain, and the Copper Pig.

What can be better than a day of riding, music, ice cream, beer and sunshine? Nothing…unless you’re the person who won the raffle and went home with a new mountain bike courtesy of Littleton Bike and Fitness.

In addition to the day’s fun, the group also raised over $24,000 to use for winter fat tire grooming, thanks to Littleton Bike and Fitness, who donated a piece of each bike sold to the event, and then got fantastic matching funds from Passumpsic Bank, in addition to the funds raised through the bike raffle.

No rest for the weary though, as they’re already planning the winter fat tire challenge and celebration, and looking forward to next summer’s second annual TrikeFest as well.
