CYCLING AWARENESS MONTH 2024

MAY IS CYCLING AWARENESS MONTH!

What is CYCLING AWARENESS MONTH? In New Hampshire, during  the month of May, a  wide variety of rides and activities are happening all over the state to celebrate & promote the joy of bicycling.

As the statewide bike advocacy organization, Bike-Walk Alliance of New Hampshire is publishing as much information as possible about these great activities here on our web pages and also  through our Facebook page.

Our BWANH CALENDAR or this page are good places to start planning activities you may want to participate in. Check here often, as this page is updated regularly. Let us know of events that could be posted here by emailing us at info@bwanh.org.

Below are just some of the activities happening during CYCLING AWARENESS MONTH (MAY)!

“TOUR de NEW HAMPSHIRE” GUIDED RAIL TRAIL RIDES

Each weekend during Cycling Awareness Month (May) there will be a guided ride on various rail trails throughout the state. Check out the “Tour de New Hampshire” Guided Rail Trail Rides page here for more info, and to sign up for these free rides.

The Spring Challenge is coming soon. Starting May 1 this year CommuteSmart users will have the option to participate in the CSNH Spring Team Challenge! Join your coworkers and rise among the ranks to be New Hampshire’s best “smart commuting” company! More details will be available as the Challenge draws nearer. For more information, go to commutesmartnh.org or contact vpagano@cnhrpc.org.

SMART CYCLING CLASS!

Want to learn how to be more comfortable riding in or near traffic, or just need some help getting back on your bike again? This all-day in-person class is for adults who have not ridden their bicycle for a while and want to start enjoying the benefits of cycling in the Monadnock region. The morning classroom session covers “rules of the road” (laws), ensuring your bike is ready to ride, and the use of cycling infrastructure in the area. The afternoon on-the-bike session is dedicated to practicing safe cycling skills in an empty (no traffic) parking lot area. A short group road ride is also included.
