This May is National Bike Month! To mark this exciting occasion, the Bike Walk Alliance of New Hampshire, in collaboration with the Granite State Wheelers and the New Hampshire Rail Trails Coalition, is thrilled to invite you on a series of guided bicycle tours along the breathtaking rail trails of the Granite State. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or new to biking, these weekend tours are designed to ignite your sense of adventure and showcase the natural beauty of New Hampshire’s rail trail system.
Each weekend throughout May, we will highlight a different rail trail, allowing participants to explore various landscapes and historical sites. Our guided tours are perfect for those new to cycling, uncertain about rail trails, or just want to get out with a fun group of cyclists! These rides will provide a safe and supportive environment to learn about cycling, trail etiquette, and the rich history of these scenic routes.

SATURDAY, MAY 25TH (MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND) 8:00AM TO 4:00PM. Bike-Walk Alliance of NH is pleased to announce another in-person Safe Cycling Class for 2024.
Taught by League of American Bicyclists (LAB) League Certified Instructors (LCIs). This 1-day class is targeted at adults who have not ridden their bicycle for a while and want to start enjoying the benefits of cycling again. The morning classroom session will cover “rules of the road” (laws), ensuring your bike is ready to ride, and the use of cycling infrastructure in the area. The afternoon on-the-bike session is dedicated to practicing safe cycling skills in an empty(no traffic) parking lot area. A short group ride is included. The class is limited to 10 participants. Registration must be accomplished by 5/10/2024. A minimum of five participants is required. More info here on the BWANH web page. NOTE: If you are planning on becoming a League Certified Safe Cycling Instructor (LCI), through the League of American Bicyclists, completing this class is a requirement. Visit the Goffstown Pubic Library on the eve of Tuesday May 14th at 6:30pm for a free 1.5 hour talk about New Hampshire’s Rail Trails and the “New Hampshire Rail Trail Challenge”. Representatives from the New Hampshire Rail Trails Coalition will give an exciting overview of the amazing rail trails all over our state, including Goffstown’s own Goffstown Rail Trail! Learn about the “New Hampshire Rail Trails Challenge” and other fun events designed to excite and encourage people of all ages to use one of our most fun and accessible resources, our historic and scenic rail trails! Speakers: Paula Bedard is a long-time Goffstown resident, avid rail trail user, and biking and walking advocate. Chuck Redfern of Keene serves on the Pathways for Keene Board, one of the groups responsible for the fabulous rail trails in the Keene area. Both Paula and Chuck will talk about the many resources available to help you get started exploring rail trails all over the state. Click here to register (suggested).
