Safe Routes to School Program Update

Bike-Walk Alliance is starting up the Safe Routes to School program for its 5th year.

After a challenging year and a half due to Covid, with most schools having no bandwidth to accommodate a special program such as this, BWA is once again launching this popular program which provides free biking and walking safety presentations to schools and other qualifying organizations across New Hampshire.

In August, a “train-the-trainer” session was held to bring on new instructors and provide a refresher for existing instructors. Fourteen people participated, including former teachers, school principals, law enforcement and even the state Bike Ped Coordinator. Currently, 5 new instructors have signed on to join the program, making the total number of instructors statewide 17.

We look forward to promoting this program throughout the state, bringing free biking & walking safety presentations to qualifying schools and other organizations. The program also includes a free bike helmet distribution program, and safety materials such as printed handouts and reflective stickers. If you know of schools or other qualifying organizations in New Hampshire that are interested in bringing these free sessions, please contact us at info@bwanh.org.
