Ride of Silence – May 17, 2023: Littleton Bike and Fitness

Most of us know someone who has been hit by a car while riding their bikes, maybe even you, and tragically we all know someone or have heard about too many people killed while doing what they love – riding a bike on public roadways.

Jen Dodge, who works at Littleton Bike and Fitness, and is a victim herself, has been leading the Ride of Silence for four years. Jen’s life was significantly impacted through her crash and because of it, she’s now committed to making sure it doesn’t happen to others. She joined Dave Harkless at Littleton Bike and Fitness to make a difference. Dave has been an active bike advocate and volunteer in the North Country for several decades.

The ride is a 10 mile, leisurely, fairly flat ride, done WORLDWIDE, and done in silence to remember those killed or injured, and to bring a reminder to motorists and others to ride cautiously and cooperatively with cyclists.

Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn’t aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves! While BWA is working cooperatively with the NH Department of Safety, schools, and many other organizations throughout the State to increase motorist knowledge and awareness, the more attention we can bring, the better.
