New Boston Rail Trail Recoup Festival

On October 8th, 2022, the New Boston Rail Trail Committee, and the New Boston Conservation Commission, with help from community volunteers, the Molly Start Tavern, DJ Lance, New Boston Fire Department, the Community Church of New Boston, and more, hosted a “Recoup Festival.” The purpose of the festival was to raise money to help pay down the $40 thousand overage from the building of the final phase of this 4-mile rail trail, completed just last year.

The Recoup Festival was well attended and began with raffles, silent auctions, and a crockpot cookoff competition. Over a dozen local cooks competed in the delectable competition, with ticket buyers voting for their favorite dish. There was also live music, cash bar, beverages and homemade desserts.

The New Boston Rail Trail is widely considered one of the most beautiful rail trails in New Hampshire. This is largely due to efforts of the local rail trail committee, spearheaded by Louise Robie. Louise is responsible for ensuring that a “minimal tree cutting” technique was implemented during trail construction, resulting in a trail that provides a more wooded, woodsy, and wilderness-y feel.

Donations to the New Boston Rail Trail are much needed and much appreciated. You can donate by clicking here.  If you have not yet explored the New Boston Rail Trail, do yourself a favor and check it out soon. More info here.
