2023 Bikes and Beers Ride a Success

Popular event reaches capacity at 600 riders!

On Saturday, July 22nd the annual New Hampshire Bikes and Beers ride was held in Portsmouth NH. The ride started and finished at Cisco Brewers at the Tradeport and departed north. Depending on the route (15, 30, or 45 miles), riders rode through Newington, Dover, Durham and Madbury on their way through the seacoast region. The routes were designed with the assistance of Bike-Walk Alliance of NH volunteer Allyson Ryder.

This is the event’s 5th year, and the first time the ride was held at Cisco. According to event organizer Sam Accardi, the Portsmouth location replaced the Portland Maine and Hampton NH locations that had been used in previous years. The ride was at maximum capacity of 600 riders and went off relatively flawlessly. BWANH helped to recruit local bike shops to provide pre-ride safety inspections and on-course rider support. Bike shops volunteering their efforts to help BWANH included Gus’ Bike Shop, Pappa Wheelies and E-Bike 603. We hope that our members can show support to these generous bike shops!

Also giving of their time were a number of BWANH members who volunteered their time to staff jobs like registration, rest stops, ride leaders and others. Without the generous donation of time, BWANH would not have been able to fully support the local needs of this event.

The Bikes and Beers organization chooses a charity partner for each ride they conduct around the country. This year Bike-Walk Alliance of NH was the sole charitable partner. Recently the Bikes and Beers group presented BWANH a check for a $2,600 donation from the proceeds of this event.

We look forward to next year’s event and hope that even more members will be able to participate!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success!
