New Hampshire is home to more than 50 independently owned bike shops. These bike shops are staffed by people who know and ride bikes, sell bikes of all kinds, fix bikes, fit you to a bike expertly, perform tune-ups and sell a range of parts, accessories, clothing and other services. Some bike shops also provide high-end bike-fit services and bike rentals.
Many shops host weekly rides and are affiliated with local bike clubs. Whether you ride for recreation, transportation, fitness, health, or fun, independently owned bike shops can meet your every need.
BWANH strongly encourages you to make your bike purchases, whether it be a new bike, parts, clothing or other accessories, from your local independently owned local bike shop, if at all possible. Big box stores and online shopping sites might sometimes be able to provide items at lowest cost. This is because they do not carry the overhead of knowledgeable staff with bicycling expertise, as well as a location where you can go to have a conversation about biking, and get your questions answered. Walmart or Amazon cannot help you if you want to find a good ride, assist you when your bike breaks, or when you get a flat tire. Shop local. You get what you pay for.
Some New Hamsphire bike shops support Bike-Walk Alliance of NH and donate annually to our advocacy efforts around the state. Check out our “Supporting Bike Shops” page for more information. Ask your bike shop if they support BWANH. If they do, please thank them! If they do not, please encourage them to do so by checking out our website.
