Being able to walk and bike to the destinations of your choice doesn’t happen without these modes of travel becoming a priority at the local, regional and state level.
BWANH is working with a broad group of organizations and people to change policy so the projects that get built serve all modes of travel better.
We support Complete Streets – the idea that streets should be designed for all modes of transportation and support people of all ages and abilities. This spring, as a member of the NH Complete Streets Coalition, we helped get legislation signed into law establishing a Complete Streets Study Committee. That committee will meet over the summer and fall of 2016 and issue a report in November on its findings.
We support passage of a Vulnerable User bill to raise awareness within the motoring public of the dangers faced by those legally operating on the roads without the benefit of airbags and crumple zones. Users like pedestrians, cyclists, equestrians, highway workers, public safety officials, medical first responders, motorcyclists and more.
We support US Transportation Secretary Anthony Fox’s “Mayors Challenge for Safer People and Safer Streets“. Encourage your town/city leaders to join the challenge. Its a program that gets municipalities thinking about human scale transportation.
Changing policies in NH is so exciting because your access to representatives is so easy. Decide to participate in the process today. And speak with a louder voice by joining BWANH.
