May 27 update:
Master
Schedule for all statewide Commute
Green events and services is now on-line
here.
As of May 27, additional entries are still being submitted for this six-week
promotion, so please check back often!
Our on-line registration form and survey will be available via this web site from May 15 through June 27 to allow entry of all your "green trips" during the six-week promotion. A paper version of the survey is available as a "toolkit item" below. It must be received by NH-DOT not later than June 28 in order to be entered for the drawing on June 30. Anyone completing six trips in a "green" way during the six week promotion will be eligible for prizes. Rules for the drawing may be viewed here.
Note:
The public
on-line registration/survey form allows one entry per computer but the
data entered may be changed or updated any time until the June 27 cut-off date.
For organizations desiring to make multiple non-changeable entries from one
computer ("kiosk mode"), please contact
BWA-NH for a different link.
Commute Green promotion endorsed by NH First Lady Dr. Susan Lynch
"I
encourage everyone with a bicycle to join one of the many NH Green Commute Week
events. You will get some healthy physical activity, help our environment and
enjoy a new experience getting to work or whatever your destination."

Nashua
and Milford promote alternative forms of transportation
Articles in the May 13 editions of the Nashua
Telegraph and the Milford
Cabinet Press highlight alternatives to driving single-occupany cars. Coordination,
publicity, and various events have been arranged by the Nashua Regional Planning
Commission. Please visit www.nashuarpc.org/smartcommute
for details.
Background
BWA-NH is pleased to again partner with NH-DOT on a statewide promotion to encourage
less use of single occupancy vehicles and more walking, bicycling, carpooling,
and use of public transit to reduce pollution and develop a healthier lifestyle.
See www.rideshare.nh.gov
for information on carpooling and New Hampshire's transit providers. What started
eight years ago in NH as just a single Bike/Walk to Work Day in mid-May has
expanded into a six-week promotion encouraging active and intermodal transportation
whenever possible, not just commuting to work. Short trips to the store, library,
a friend's home, etc. can often be accomplished by bike or foot with the resulting
exercise and cost savings making a big difference. For longer distances, combining
cycling and walking with public transit, carpool, or even using a car can be
a practical alternative to driving alone from door to door. This 2010 promotion
will have a drawing upon completion in June. Anyone completing
six trips in a "green" way during the six week promotion will be eligible
for prizes. An on-line survey, provided by BWA-NH, or a paper
mail-in version will be used to capture some information about trips taken,
problems encountered, the enjoyment factor, etc. Details about the program and
a link to the survey will be posted on this BWA-NH web site.
We welcome all event organizers to submit their planned activities to BWA-NH and NH-DOT in order for us to supply free publicity and to list all events in a master schedule. More events, more participants, and more fun equals more "green" transportation. For questions and to submit your event plans and schedule, please contact:

"Commute
Green NH" Bike Rides
New for 2010 will be a series of Bicycling Awareness
Rides to be conducted in all regions of the state over the six-week
period. Multiple loop rides starting with family-friendly short routes to more
challenging loops for experienced cyclists will highlight rail trails, scenic
and historic locations, helmet use (a state law for those under 16), proper
cycling techniques, compliance with the rules of the road including the "3
foot rule", and how cyclists and motorists can safely share our roadways.
Some giveaways, snacks, etc. are planned for each ride location. The complete
schedule and details will be available on this web site or our
blog. To help organize and promote the rides, please check the "Toolkit"
items below. For questions and to submit your events for the statewide schedule,
